Meatza
This is a yummy Paleo substitute for pizza made with dough. Depending on how you feel about dairy you can choose not to include the cheese, but this is one of the few times I say go for it! The meat base will shrink when you cook and leave part of the pan exposed to the heat in the oven. I might try some baking paper next time. You can choose whatever toppings you prefer.
Meat Base:
1 lb ground lean beef
1 lb ground lean pork
1/4 a cup of onion
1-2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 egg
Topping:
6 slices bacon, cut in 1-inch pieces
1/2 lb button mushrooms, sliced
1 cup bell peppers, thinly sliced
1 cup sugar-free tomato sauce
1 tsp dried oregano
1 cup shredded cheese
Preheat your oven to 450 F. Mix the ground meat with the onion and garlic. Spread the mixture on a 12×18 inch baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
While the meat is cooking, cook the bacon for about 5 minutes over medium heat so it’s still a bit soft. Add the mushrooms and continue cooking until they are almost cooked. Add the bell peppers and cook for another 2-3 minutes. If you prefer you can grill the bacon and lightly saute the mushrooms and pepper to cook them.
Remove the crust from the oven and pour out the juices. Set your oven to broil. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the crust and spread the bacon, mushrooms, red peppers and cheese on top of the sauce. Sprinkle with the oregano. Broil until the cheese starts to brown.
